I've had my 3830 for about 6 months now and love it. I'm thinking of adding a backhoe to it and have been looking at the BH90 by Kubota and the Woods 9000. Around here the Woods unit is about $600 more. What do folks believe to be the best backhoe for the 3830?
Thanks in advance for your opinions

I have a Woods 9000 that I got with my used L4200 tractor, and have beat the **** out of it pulling boulders and stumps recently (see attached). No complaints, other than it throwing my tractor around like a piece of tissue paper....that, and that it isn't even bigger.

I don't have any personal experience with the Kubota 'hoes, but I've read several accounts on this site regarding the Kubota BH90 bending dipper cylinders during normal use. That alone would keep me from buying one over the Woods, especially given the abuse I've been giving my backhoe. I also like the dual boom-swing piston design of the Woods better.

I have a 3830HST with a BH90 and a 12" bucket. I've put about 100 hours on the hoe doing everything from trenching, excavation, stump pulling, to rolling 6'X6' boulders. I work it hard, check it frequently, and grease it every 10 hours or less. So far it has performed flawlessly.

I had a 3830HST and now have the 5030HST. I used the BH90 on both machines and have no complaints with 12", 18", 24", and even a 36" bucket. Others have said that the Woods is stronger, but the BH90 has done everything I have asked it to do. I will say that I thought I had a problem a few weeks ago, but that seems to have self-corrected. If you do a search on BH90 woes, you'll find that thread.

Has anyone been able to operate both for a comparison? I heard it mentioned that some folks thought the woods to be a little stronger. I did read the threads on Kubota's BH90 having a dipper cylinder issue, but couldn't get a feel as to if these were isolated instances or ongoing. I must also say I've not come across any issues with the Woods 9000. Has anyone heard of any issues with it?
Thanks again for everyone sharing their knowledge
