OK now that I have your undivided attention I would like to ask each of you personally if you presently have draft control on your tractor. And even if you don't do you think it's a worthwhile addition?

I did have draft on my last tractor and personally never saw a need to use it with the 2 bottom plow or the tiller that we pulled from time to time.

Tell me what your take is on this subject, then you can go grab a draft beer if you like. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I have draft and use it when I want to disc very lightly when covering seed. I have used it when plowing to keep from breaking the shear bolt as often.

Dont have it & have plowed a fair amount of old sod areas successfully w/an OLD Oliver 2 bottom plow w/my NH TC40DA. Could be our clay soil is such that I have not needed draft control. After my good experience I know its not something I feel the need to add to the tractor.

Mine does not have it, and unless it was a standard feature on a tractor, I wouldn't pay to add it.

Pineridge, My M9000 came with it and I'll have to say I like it. It saves my neck, I set it to release pressure/raise just before it bogs me down and drive when using my chisel plow, without it I'd have to have one hand on the position control and be ready to lift it everytime I hungup on a rock or root. Draft is certainly something you could do without but its nice for heavy ground engagement jobs. If you never intended to use plow type implements including a BB then I'd say you would have no use for Draft control. The areas that I'm plowing either haven't been plowed ever or haven't been plowed since Oxen were the power center. I'm in an area with lots of limestone and when you hang up you never know what your going to turn over it can be football sized or as big as a house, I'd just as soon leave the house sized alone and go around or over and Draft allows me to do it without even turning my head.
