Rear Blade KingKutter Rear Blade - Broke

I wanted to share my experience today - puchased a brand new King Kutter rear blade (72") for $189 and after about 10 minutes of fairly heavy grading a weld broke on the top of the top link support bracket. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I returned the blade back to TSC and they did not have a problem with the return. I don't know much about KK or welding, but it looked like a got a bad apple.

I will be going for the Woods or Landpride - the woods quoted out at $419 for 72". I am thinking the extra $$ will be worth it over time.

I know KK has some cheap rear blades, but TSC has two blade lines... the other is Wallace.

Which one on top did you buy, the red or yellow unit?

ec, I buy lots of stuff from Tractor Supply Co. and usually have good luck with their products, but as I've said before on the forum, in '95 I bought a 5' box blade from them, broke a weld in less than an hour (behind a B7100), took it back, exchanged it for another one, broke a weld on that one in less than two hours, took it back for a refund, and bought a Monroe Tufline from my Kubota dealer./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

This is very intersting, and it is also my first post at TBN. I have been looking at and pricing a 6 foot rear blade and a 5 foot box blade for my JD 4100. With EC's and Bird's experience, it's beginning to look like you get what you pay for. Does anyone know anything about United blades? The price looks good. The same dealer has Leinbach, I think it is. Somewhere in TBN I saw something about them, but can't find it now. Any suggestions or opinions about purchasing a back and box blade will be appreciated.

BTW, I have been reading these posts for a couple of months now and have picked up a lot of good, helpful information.

Just to clarify - it was the yellow King Kutter brand and not Wallace. I spoke with TSC and they said they are going to the King Kutter line because of problems with Wallace - glad I didn't get a Wallace - it may have not survived the trip home.

I puchased a 5' United 560 HD Box Blade back in 1998. I have used and abused it with several tractors, Ford 3600, Ford 5000, Massey 231, and a Zetor 2520. I have not even bent it. It had a good weight (364lbs) for my needs. I also like the Leinbach line - even bought one of their post hole diggers.

I bought a 6 foot King Kutter blade three years ago mainly to blade snow with, no problems with it, even when I hooked the end of the driveway, and raised the front of my Massey 2 feet into the night sky. I used it out at my dad's place about a month back to clean out his front ditch, worked like a champ. I'm the kinda guy that believes you get what you pay for, and for the money I feel have a valuable piece of equipment.

I have a 4' United box blade I purchased for a B7100. A Great performer! Last winter we used it behind a L4610 to rip a trench into a frozen driveway!

Well, I stopped by the Bush Hog and Land Pride dealers a couple of days ago and those blades are definitely more expensive than the United - or KK - for that matter. I'm going to have to make a decision fairly soon. We just can't keep having all this nice early fall weather here in Central New York much longer, and probably sooner than later I'll need that rear blade for snow removal. Thanksgiving a year ago we had about a 4 inch snowfall with 8 on the ground.

Thanks for your comments about the United, cedarranch and Mutt, and I may have to go back and look those over again.

I have 2 KK implements, a rear scoop and a tiller. Both perform well. The thing you have to watch out for with KK is that they don't have good quality control. Be sure and inspect it well before you buy it, since 1 in 10 (or worse) will be defective. But, the ones that do get assembled correctly are good quality for the money.
