I've read most and tried many of the ways folks store their PHD between uses. None worked well for me; the top hitch gives me trouble each time. So, here's my attempt - when the boom is level, it rests on the cross 2x4s. I can more easily move it to remove the top pin that way, without having to hold the durn thing in the air! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif The pins on the arms are no problem. We'll see how it works out after on/off a few times. Can you guess which post hole hit a rock?

Looks good-these post hole diggers are weird. First I
try for an hour to install mine with the top link on. Then
I try to put it on upside down! Then every part on it moves
and trys to bite you at every chance. Next the ground
is hard as concrete---but I sure am having fun.

I like it! I'm tired of fighting mine.

Hi All,

I like to keep things somewhat portable because it makes life easier when moving stuff around the barn or out to a field. I put my generator on a two-wheeled trailer which gives me power at remote sites, my broadcast spreader is on a skid so that I can easily tote it or move it when needed and makes attaching to my tractor a breeze. I put my PHD on a portable skid too and hookup only takes a few minutes, plus I have a place to store my extra auger.

I made this rig using some left over 4X6 pressure-treated fence posts cut with my chain saw and cobbled together with some spikes. I had some coated chain and a couple of screw eyes. I used a snap hook that make it very easy to hook up to hanging chain. I also wrapped a piece of chain around the PHD support arm to keep the unit stabilized when being moved. The setup balances the unit very nicely. It can be moved into position with one hand. The stabilizer chain also keeps the unit from moving around in the wind.

It ain't pretty, but it works. With a block and tackle, it might even be good for gutting and skinning critters. Might even rent it out to the gooberment as a portable gallows for use on terrorists or despot dictators.

Regards,
Ed

That's what counts. Is that "plastic" chain holding that up, or plastic coated? Careful how you answer, the safety police lurketh.
