I'm pretty sure it is the proply-type AF's that are non poisonus. I know you can get some rv tank water AF that are non poisonus.. but I don't think they have the corrosion inhibitors and water pump lubes like a auto antifreeze.. but I do believe the propyl will.. but are just more expensive than the 'ethyl' - poisonus ones. Besides.. in a 30/70 or 50-50 mix.. a gallon goes a long way.. I run whatever mix is in my pump out.. run tap water thru it as a flus.. then dump in enough af/water mix to make sure it has run thru the pump.. then let it set like that. A gallon lasts along time like that..

I spray a lot of Roundup and Pramitol 25E with Sureflo pumps. The heads on these pumps are non-metallic and aren't effected by these chemicals. I never clean this type of pump, except for a plain water flush.

kossetx, I use Reclaim as a foliar spray using a formula from A&M that contains Reclaim, surficant, diesel, dye, water. Time to spray is best from 60 to 120 days past bud break if memory serves. At this time, the leaves are dark green and are replenishing the roots that have given up energy to produce spring growth. The Reclaim goes to the roots served by the foliage. Miss some foliage... you still have that root alive. I get about a 95% kill rate... some half alive next year where I missed a branch.

I've come as close to eradicating mesquite on my place as I'll ever get... new sprouts annually.....

I've used Remedy in a mix (A&M again) as a basal spray... when spraying outside the best time for Reclaim... works only/best on trees that don't yet have the thick patterened bark. I've had good results with that, too.

Neither require cutting the tree... it rots in place after it dies. I'm sure I've killed thousands, too.. but didn't stop to count!

I use hand held sprayer and tank mix from tractor. When there is a mesquite thicket, I wade into it with a long hose. Have killed trees with limbs 25 feet or so high.

I'm not familar with the chemical formulation of "brushbusters foliar mix" ... what is that? Yep, both Remedy and Reclaim are pricey.... But I haven't found anything else that actually works and is specific to mesquite.
