I just purchased a used Yanmar 1500 tiller. Of course everything on it is in Japanese. Does anyone know where I could possibly find an owners/service manual.

There are two spots for gear oil(I am guessing that 80/90 is the correct fluid). The one on the side where the gears are for the tiller tines, how full should that be. As long as I leave enough room for heat expansion, are there any concerns with too full.

Any help or info would be appreciated. Thanks

Is there a filling hole, and then further down on the case another plug? If so, fill up to the level of that second plug, probably about half way up. I'm talking of the chain side. For the other spot, if there's no stick with marks, I'd fill it at least 1/3 - 1/2.

I agree on the gear oil weight, I'd go 90.

Be sure to drain the chain case. You want to get all the water and contaminated oil out.
