I went to the dealer and looked at a Bush Hog RDTH84 and a LandPride FDR3584. Wanted to see the Woods PRD8400, but he was sold out and had more on order.

Though similar, I didn't like the LandPride as well as the Bush Hog.

So I've narrowed my search down to the Bush Hog and the Woods.
Even though there was no Woods 7' mower at the dealer, there are a few things I like about it through reading the literature:

1. Tapered deck
2. Tubing welded around the bottom edge of deck

I know this has been covered before, but I really am not sure if one of the machines is better than the other. He quoted me about 2500 for either of the three 7' mowers....And 500 for the trade in of our old finish mower. So 2000 and we can have either one.

The salesman said he like the bush hog the best. But there was just something about that mower that didn't quite win me over. And plus, I figure if he was SOLD OUT of the Woods PRD8400, and had another sold that was still on it's way from that factory, that this is the mower to get.

Since I am partial to the woods brand, should I go with it? Or is the Bush Hog really a better mower?

Situation: mowing about 10 acres on a 100 acre kids camp every two weeks or so. Ford 3000 gas. Varied terrain.

Update:

We ended up getting the Woods PRD8400 with a front roller for about 2200 with a trade. This deck is mammoth!

We had a little trouble getting the 3pt connected since our tractor has stabilizer bars that attach to the implement along side the lift arms.
Additionally, we can't lift the deck as high as the lift will go since the PTO will hit the deck. We made a stopper for the 3p control in order to prevent damage. We can, however, lift the deck about 2' high.

The mower fits behind the Ford 3000 nicely, with the deck sticking out about four inches on each side. The rounded edges work out well for trimming. Material is discharged evenly...very few clumps were left after mowing some 3 week growth.

Also, this mower is VERY loud compared to the Ford 930A 72" we were using. It is necessary to wear ear muffs when running this machine.

Question: Should we use the 3pt float, or simply set the 3pt to a fixed height and let the mower float with it's floating hitches?
