Never hooked up hydraulics, need help

I'm planning on putting a log splitter on my 3pt in the fall to split some logs. I want to be able to put it on and take it off easily. The one I'm considering is a TSC # 2153304. My tractor is a Kubota L3400. I have a FEL attached to the hydraulics already. How do I connect this thing? Can I put a line/return in with quick connects to the back of the tractor? Does anyone sell a kit to do this? I'm assuming that I don't need a valve since the splitter already says it has one. Thanks for the help.

You can do one of two things. You can buy a remote hydraulic kit and install it to the rear of the tractor, or you can buy the hose kit that uses the power beyond part of your main loader valve.

Either way, you will have a way to connect to the rear of the tractor.

I currently am using a hose kit from the power beyond, but I will soon be adding a remote hydraulic connection as I'm tired of having the hoses running through the body of the tractor. The rear remote would be your best solution in my opinion, and yes, the splitter has it's on valve for operating it from the remote or the PB kit.

Not quite true for a Kubota L3400. There is no power beyond hose kit available. Your options are: <ul type="square"> [*]to install either a Kubota or an aftermarket rear remote [*]have your dealer install the plumbing for a tractor hydraulics backhoe (i't not a kit). This option will usually disable the 3pt from working. [*]disconnect the loader power beyond hose and connect it to the splitter and run the splitter return hose to the block where you disconnected the loader power beyond hose from. [/list] Most people go with the first option as it is the most flexible but it is also the most expensive ($400-$800). Option 3 is the least expensive as it is only 2 hoses that need to be bought.

I would suggest you get in contact with your dealer and see what he can help you with.

Thanks for the info. Where do I find a good aftermarket rear remote kit? Is there website where I can look? My dealer is very expensive here and takes weeks to do anything.

Again you have two options, build your own from individual parts, or get a complete kit from say Carter & Carter.

To roll your own you would need to purchase a 2 or 3 spool valve like the Prince SV from Surplus Center, plus all the fittings and hoses from DiscountHydraulicHose.com or your local hydraulic shop. This option requires you to do all the work measuring and installing and figuring out what is needed.

The complete kit from CCM will still require some work on your part to install and make sure the hose lengths are correct.

There have been plenty of posts in the last year detailing how to do it yourself. Use the search function and start looking for "rear remotes" or "TNT" or "Top and Tilt" and you will get plenty of info.

When you decide on what you are going to do, come back and ask for installation help. It's not hard and I have given the instructions here before.
