I bought my 3PH DR Chipper two years ago on the free six month trial program. It worked pretty well, so I ended up keeping it. When I traded up to an L4630 from my L3010 I was chagrined to find that the PTO shaft was way too short to use the chipper on the new tractor.

Today I called their customer service line and explained my problem. "Oh, you need the longer shaft. It costs $309 plus shipping."

Sinking feeling. Not sure I'd use the chipper enough to justify the cost. Burn piles are cheaper. But I had to ask, "Would you take the old shaft in partial trade?"

A pause, then -- "Tell you what. Send back the original shaft and we'll replace it free of charge."

Gotta love service like that! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Gotta love that Pete! I had a similar experience with my local bike shop this evening. I had dropped my rear wheel off Friday for a trueing. Picked it up tonight and the bill was "no charge". These guys built my wheel for me, but it's been at least four years ago. Lifetime, they said.

So I bought a bunch of stuff from them to show my appreciation /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Yep, Pete, my experience with them was that their prices seem high, but the service is very good.

Pete,

That new machine is going to tear that DR to shreads /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Just think of all the CO2 you are saving by chipping the wood instead of burning it.

Jim -- It DOES look sorta puny stuck on the end of that big L4630, but DR assures me their chipper can handle it. We'll see.
