6 roller pump & water sprinkler

Before I drag all this water hose and other stuff way out back
to my creek to try and water about 1 acre of grass seed.
I tried it yesterday with a 1.5in sump pump and a genarator lots of volume no pressure /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
So I just picked up a boom sprayer with a 6 roller pump.
I'm thinking about tryin to use the 6 roller to run 3-4 sprinklers?
I'll only do this long enough for the seed to take, it's mostly
down hill and any heavy rain will wash the seed away.
Also 1 of my tractors has a 540 & 1000 pto,
so I would beable to run lower rpms.
Long story short will a 6 roller run 3-4 sprinklers?

Gene, the short answer is yes it will. There's a number of things to consider. Where is it pulling the water from, do you have a pressure regulator and bypass for too much pressure, and you can vary the RPM of the tractor to change pressure. I assume you're talking about using the boom sprayer tank for the source of water.

Not enough info. You need to know things like displacement of the pump.. , important is pressure it generastes@ x volume.. then know what pressure / gpm or volume your sprinklers need to run. Figure in grade that you are pumping the water up so you can figure head.. also.. if you are drawing water you need to know lift head of the pump.. etc.

What size pressure line you are using will effect things too.

Hypro 6-roller (6500 series) pumps have max flow of 9.7 GPM (at low pressure and 540 RPM) up to 18.2 gpm (@1000rpm) Max pressure is 300 psi. gpm DEcreases as pressure INcreases. They have 3/4" port size (output). Still not nearly enough info to give "YES or NO". As important as the pumps capabilities is the sprinkler heads requirements.

Gut feeling is, not enough pump.

The plan is to pull the water out of the creek..plenty of it,
and yes I can filter it some what as I'm pumping from the creek.
The creek runs along side the area that I plan to water so
the input hose is short 15-20 ft?
I would dout to much pressure would be a problem,
If so more sprinklers /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Or I guess I could run off the boom sprayer, in order to have
return pressure?
It was a pain yesterday to pack all this stuff up on a trailer
only to find out the hard way I didnt have a chance!
My thing is if I'm burning fuel to water I'd like to beable
to water the whole area at once.
Let me correct myself, maybe a 1/2 acre or less.

If the water level is sufficiently lower than the pump.. that 20' could be max lift for some pumps!!

Pressure and volume are not directly related. A restrictive hose or apature can create high pressure and have virtually no flow...

Roller pumps are a low volume, mid-high pressure positive displacement type. 9 gpm might hold up 2 sprinklers if you don't loose much to the restriction of the line to the sprinklers. It is difficult for most pumps to draw water up a 15ft vacuum. Consider a centrifugal pump. It is not difficult to see 100 psi with over 100 gpm. Ace and Hypro each make these.
