Montana website has a tree shear that fits on the front end loader. Looks mean as heck, but how does one ensure the tree doesn't fall the wrong way?
Will the hydro powered shears really snip a tree off clean?

This appears to be a small shear that is limited by tractor hydraulic pressure. The hydraulics on hi-flo skidsteers seem to lend themselves for better shearing tools. The Fecon shears are impressive and have a bunch grabber to help control the fall of the sheared. Link attached for pictures..http://www.fecon.com/media_room/actionshots.asp.

The Montana tree shear seems to show a forward angled bar to help push(weakly) a small tree forward when sheared. Unless you are planning to remove many many small trees I would opt for chain sawing or exploring a local rental to take care of the task.
