I am looking for a 4' Rotary Tiller and would like to have an Orange one to match my tractor and was wondering what were my choices, and about what kind of prices are on new ones? What other ones is out there that are good brands.

I have a 52" reverse tine Kubota tiller. It is great but expensive. I bought as a demo a few years ago. It normally sold for $2500. But as a demo it was $1800. Here is a link to their tillers for you size tractors. http://www.kubota.com/f/products/B7410_Implements_tiller.cfm
If you have to have a Orange tiller. Consider a Befco or one of the manufactures that will paint their tillers what ever color you want. It should save you several $100 and work just as good.

4' King Kutter and a can of orange Krylon'll do the trick.

I've seen some at a Kioti dealer, I think they were made by Sicma.

A few years ago I was looking for a Kubota tiller and found a Kubota K420 at the back of a dealer's yard. It was well used and weathered but otherwise in good condition. I got it for $400. My suggestion is to snoop around - you may be surprised at what you can find.

I am very pleased with my new Carter & Carter (CCM) MR-160 (58") tiller :D. It is a gear driven model and it is a bear. They make Medium Duty CR-45 (45") rated for 10-45 PTO HP, CR-50 (50") rated for 12-45 PTO HP. They weigh 395# and 410# and list ~ $1150 and $1200 respectively. They have a a Commercial Duty MR-130 (49")tiller rated for 15-60 PTO HP. It weighs 495# and lists for ~ $1300. Shipping from TN to residential MA cost $195. I am color blind , but my wife says mine is red. They also advertise an orange model. There are a lot of threads floating around on TBN regarding tillers. Good luck on your research and purchase :). Jay

Thanks for the info.,any more web addresses for tillers? What should I look for in a rotary tiller? I was told to make sure it had a slip clutch. What exactly is that?

A slip clutch replaces shear bolts, so if you "till" something that won't, IE hickory roots, you just have to untangle instead of untangle and replace shear bolts.(and possibly straighten tines/blades)

Don,

If you want to check out used, you can usually get a tiller from people that sell grey market tractors. Around here, they get about 3-400 for a used paddy tiller. The tines are not as strong as a general purpose one, but they work well in "softer" soils. Get a copy of the equipment trader or similar, there is usually a couple ads selling Yanmars and such.

Otherwise, the KK gear drive tillers are nice.

LandPride, Kubota, John Deere also have excellent equipment but $$$$.

I picked up a King Kutter XB series 4' tiller on sale for $900. They're orange. Might be pushing it with your 30 hp tractor as they are only rated for 25 hp. It comes with the slip clutch standard. Not sure if you will be able to find it as cheap as I got it, but I think they retail for only around $1350-1400.
