I made it to the auction today. I picked up a new set of Thomas 48'' skidsteer forks for $400. I wanted to spend about $200 but with new ones from NH quoted at around $800 and no used ones available I think I did O.K.. Somebody had a $300 proxy bid up for all the forks and Ritchie Bros. does bids in $100 steps on something like this. They had two new Versatech 5' brush grapples that went for $1500 and $1300 ( the guy that gave $1500 got screwed by someone that drove the price up and didn't even bid on the second one). The 78" Thomas grapple buckets all went for $1500 and if I remember correctly the five footers went for $1000 and $1200. Both loader mounted augers went for around $900. My memory is a little touch and go on those last prices, I left my catalog with the prices I wrote down lying on the counter when I paid up. They had a bunch of new skidsteer loader buckets that went for $200 each, I thought about getting one and building my own grapple but I have enough crap and unfinished projects lying around my yard as it is. Auctions can be fun and they can be a boring PITA when the stuff you want sells at the end. It's hard to stay awake and remember to not pick your nose when they're selling a $200,000 paving machine that you don't really have room for!
