I'm about to buy a rear remote for my 'bota. I want to make sure that I get maximum flexibility to use the remotes for any toys...I mean tools...that I decide to get later. I've been told by the dealer that I would never use more than 1 valve. How many would I need if I wanted a 3pt backhoe? Any reason to have more than 2?
Thanks for the help.

Rick if it were me I would get at least 2 rear remotes if you can swing it. That way you can add Top & Tilt at a later time if you wish. Get the tractor set up for power beyond to power the BH.

That's what I was thinking as well. A second only will cost me an extra $250 for a Kubota valve. My guess is that the dealer didn't have the stackable valves in stock. I asked about power beyond for the L3400. The dealer said that I would need to replace the existing hydralic valve with a different one to do that. I think he was talking about a grand series valve.

I wonder if that's the only way to add a backhoe to a L3400. Oh, I guess I could get one of the 'hoes that have independant hydraulics fed by the PTO.

I have three on the L4330 installed for the box blade...Top..Tilt..and the Scarifiers.

The Top and Tilt are very usefull. I am not sure about the third for the scarifiers. I got all three installed with the original tractor purchase in part because I am a newbie and didn't want to instal them myself at a later date.

If I were an experienced user perhaps I could do with less. I am learning by experimenting. It would take a lot of time constantly jumping off the tractor to make adjustments on the box blade.

I have one set on my New Holland TC30 and whish that I had at least one more. If you can get a second set that cheap than I would go for it if you have the money. You won't regret it.

Two is winning hands down. Guess that makes it easy.

I have 3 on my L3130 Kubota. An attachment that I have for my loader requires 2 valves for control when in use plus I wanted control of the top link at the same time. I admit that most of the time I have only 2 valves in use, top link and grapple on bucket.

I don't have tilt but will probably add it one day and I already have the capability to use it.

I think its like attachments(more is better). I had one and then found I needed two so I added a second set with a selector valve. I use both fairly often. The selector valve is a little cumbersome, but works o.k. I would have preferred two separate sets, but they weren't available for my tractor. There are times when I could use three, but I can live without the third one.

I have three on mine. I have TNT which uses two of the three. I'm toying with adding a grapple which would use the third. In the winter, I take off the tilt cylinder and put on my snowblower which has hydraulic chute rotation and a hydraulic chute deflector. I leave the HTL on so I'm using all three all winter.

I went with 3 on our tractor. TNT use 2 & the other is for whatever comes up. It was used this spring for the hay rake cylinder.
