I have a Massey Ferguson 1433V and I picked up an older model Massey Ferguson sickle bar mower that mounts on the three point. I messed with it once a while back when I first got it and didn't have any luck with mounting it. It appears to have some mechanism that mechanically picks the cutter bar up when you pick up the arms on the three point but I can't for the life of me figure out how it's supposed to work and I really couldn't seem to get it on the tractor correctly. Any ideas? I can try to get some photos at some point but I've had it just sitting for a while as I haven't had time to play with it. Maybe it's set up to specifically work with the older MF tractors?

I have a New Holland 451 3pt mower that does not fit on my new Kubota L3430 CUT. THe cat 1 3pt is not the problem. The problem is the mechanical lift system for the cutter bar. There is a yoke system that fits between the 3pt upper lift arms. The lift arms are too close together. It does fit on my old Allis Chalmers D14.

See attached picture. Does your Massey mower have a similar setup?

My set-up is very similar to what pooh_bear has shown. I went through your links and I'm thinking my problem might be better answered on the missing pages; arrgh! If you look at this link here: http://www.ntractorclub.com/forums/manuals/messages/555.html

And look at figure 7 and look at the right side of the photo (left side of the mower) you can see the arm that mechanically lifts the sickle bar. That was where I was having problems. How does this work? Where does the three point arm on that side of the mower fit? The links pooh_bear gave focused on the right side and does not illustrate how the left side attaches. I'm thinking the mechanism needs to hit against something as the arms are lifted so the mechanism will lift the blade at the same time; I just can't figure out how...

The guy I bought it from (supposedly) used it on his newer (80's vintage?) Ford tractor with approx. the same horse power as mine and nothing significantly different that I could see on the three point arms.

but it says that the operator lifts the sickle bar by pulling the chain.

That mower is probably the easiest of all sickle mowers to attach to the tractor 3 point hitch. Hook left arm, right arm toplink and pto and that is it. The arm in figure 7 automatically comes up under the left tractor lift arm to carry the blade tip (This is adjustable in the holes you see in the casting)--Ken Sweet

I have a New Holland 451 3pt mower that does not fit on my new Kubota L3430 CUT.

I believe there is an adapter that extends the top link's hitch out.. so the "inner" sicklebar's hookup will clear the upper section of the lower lift arms. Mine just barely clears.. but I had to adjust the outside bars down. I think you could easily make one w/ a piece of heavy rectangular tube steel.. holes drilled to match the top link's hitch to attach.. hope this helps.
