Thanks for the replys. Think I'm going with the pivot design. I don't have a pipe bender and it seems easy enough to build. Going to build the frame out of 1x2 rect tubing, 1/8". I have some 1" x 1/8" strap for the truss. The pipe I got is actually sch 40 2.5" od. I think the pivot will be a 1/2" bolt. I think that would be just as strong as welding some 2.5" plate to it. I also found some other links here that I found on Google.

Man it's hot down here tonight. 85 degrees and 80% humidity. At 10pm!.

Here is a different, frontal, approach. Tree boom attached via QA to FEL. Whatever the advantages of a boom on the 3pt hitch, I'd say this option has that beat at least in the overall lift height department.:D

I agree on the height department, mine is 19 feet high and I can pick up a set of factory Case forks about 400 pounds or a little more

I only need to lift something into the back of a pickup or a trailer. I don't have a FEL and don't really need one. Although it would be fun the added cost wouldn't be worth it. Plus I drive others tractors around here and a FEL makes the tractor feel front end heavy and bouncy. I'd probably leave mine off most of the time. For $30 or so I should be able to make what I need.

Thanks,
Rob

I hope to attach pix of my home made boom pole. I also attach it to my FEL
bucket. I use it to lift my Miller Bobcat welder onto its stand

Suds..I like your setup - simple and versatile, just what I've been looking for. Thanks for sharing the pics. Now I gotta fire up the old buzzbox and build one.:D
