I have been posting about trail-grooming and decided with everyone's help that a boxblade would be the better choice agains a rear-blade. My biggest concern now is; will my L2350 (25hp) efficiently pull a 5' or will I need to scale down to a 4'. I'm using turf tires( have 4wd). My overall width in the rear is 58", so the 5' box would extend approx. an inch on both sides or buy a 4' and keep it in-between, but will I have problems trying to pull a 5 footer thru tough ground conditions ( hard-pack/roots/rocks)???

Personally, I would most definitely want a 5' box blade because I'd want one a little wider than the outside of my rear tires so I could get close to obstacles when I wanted to. It's also nice and convenient (although not absolutely necessary) for the box blade to be the same width as the bucket on the FEL. Will you have problems pulling it in tough conditions? Of course, and the same would be true with a 4' box blade if you have the scarifiers digging in, catching on roots, rocks, etc. But I wouldn't expect any problem dragging a full blade of dirt.

I pull a medium duty 5 foot box blade with my 25 HP Kioti without any trouble. I also have turf tires.

thanks guys for the info. It's just the response I needed, about being able to pull a full load of dirt & the Kioti with similar size and turfs " doing the job".

I agree with Bird here. You don't have to bury the scarifiers either. Just enough to "grab" what your tractor can handle. The box will fill up even by just "skimming" along and you should pull that no problem.

I have a 5 ft. I use behind my 2015 Mahindra hydro and it usually pulls it just fine, however if it hangs on a large root or rock it stops the tractor, but so would a 4 footer, like the others say, just adjust tines to shallow digging. Mine will pull a good sized load of rocks or gravel also, if it gets too much it just spins and I dump a little. A too narrow one is the pits, always backing up or doing over to cover your tracks.. I have a 66" blade from Modern MFG. My Kubota l175 ( 18 hp ) can drag it around with the scarifers up filling it with dirt or gravel. My MF 231 can bury the scarifers in hard NE Texas dirt and get real work done. Great implement.
