I have seen several discussions here at TBN about JD 71 two row planters used for gardens and small food plots. In fact, based on the rave reviews of other TBNers, I bought one, and it is the bomb. I planted 3 acres of corn this spring, and it is far superior to the older style planter that I previously owned.

I was looking on ebay today and saw a two row planter made with JD Max-Emerge planter units. That is the first time I have seen a small planter made from those type units. That would be the the most up to date planting technology, i.e., no till, fingers not plates, etc. I would think that one of those would be nice to have. Have any of you guys seen a two row planter made with the Max-Emerge units or have knowledge of such a planter?

I saw an add in a farm magazine this past winter for one. It was a reconditioned planter prepared and sold by a dealer in Kentucky. They sold for $1800 in conventional form and $2400 as a no-till planter. That included fertilizer units. With all the options and aftermarket parts available for the 7000 series MaxEmerge planters, it would no doubt be a great machine. Just pricey for gardening. I'll dig around and see if I still have the magazine. If so, I'll forward any info on the dealer.

No plans on buying one, just looking. I have a Deere #71 unit planter 2-row, and only use it nowdays to plant 1/4 to 1/2 acre sweet corn patch.
