So now that i have an older ford 72" rear blade, Im wondering what to paint it.

Surpriseingly its not to rusty on the parts that count.

So what do you paint them

1)match your tractor color?
2)what the manufacuter would have painted it stock (ie howse would be red)?
3)what ever spaybomb you have laying around at the moment?
4)black?
5)your favort color?
6) your some crazy old fart that paints them with automotive metalic flake and clear coats them, washes it after every use and waxes it twice a year?

Ill post a pic in a bit

I like painting an implement with it's oem color set, and if it had data tags or decals.. I like to replace those as well. That's just me.

I do see where an implement matching your tractor color would be appealing.

When I bought a used JD batwing mower that I pull with a NH tractor.. i thought very seriously about painting that mower blue to match.. luckilly I went green.. I like the way it turned out.

Hit the rust with a wire wheel. A rust control primer.. or etching primer may be needed.. then hit it with some color.

Etched as a Bad Idea in my memory banks forever--and it was probably 10 yrs ago I saw this:

Driving home one day, I passed an 8n type Ford with a bush hog on a trailer. The Ford was painted JD Green complete with JD Yellow wheels.

I about blew lunch right there...................

Do what's right, though it would not be as serious on a non-descript implement.

De-rusting and priming is what Ive been doing for a week on the discs Ive got. Was going to go all black..like another gentleman on the BB here did...THEN thought about black discs...yellow framework..like King Kutter does theirs.....but my farmer buddys..after about 4-5 coldies one night..brow beat me into black on the bottom..and Kubota orange frame...geeze...LOL.
