The only "issue" with speed/ground speed and planting is more or less constant with all plate planters, and even carries over to plateless/air planters. At speeds over 5 MPH, corn seed tends to "bounce" when it drops into the ground before the closing wheel packs dirt over it. That makes for rather inconsistant plant spacing. That in turn effects plant growth and yields. I had better luck with my #71 planter at speeds around 4 MPH. Plant spacing, row spacing, (Which dictates "plants per acre"/ population) and seed depth is critical in achieving great yields.
