I've searched the posts and couldn't find an answer to my problem. I can't afford a backhoe and would like to dig some small holes for landscaping and to also remove and replant some of our bushes and flowers. Because I only have 15% left of one of my disks I cannot use a shovel or do any lifting.

During my search, I found tree and other types of grubbers but all were too large for me and my B7510hst. All I want is a spade type attachment that is not monstorous but about 12 to 18" wide and about 2 ft or so long. I want a portable attachment to my bucket just like I have done with my forks.

Anyone have this type of attachment? Are there things like this availabe or should I have a welding shop make it? What is your comments about with or without teeth. Some of the larger grubbers I've seen on this site have had teeth, others haven't.

Your opinions please.

I am not familiar with your model tractor, but if its 30 or better HP and you can get an adapter for your loader to use the skid steer mounting system (see the ones from ATI), then take a look at the Bobcat "Digger"

http://www.bobcat.com/products/att/digger.html

I have one in 36". You can get it 24" wide, too. It is an amazingly versatile attachment. I have moved trees with it, dug up tons of rocks, cut ditches, and dug up stumps.

Harris,
You indicated that you have forks; can you slide them together? I bought the mast and forks from a salvage yard to make mine and can slide the forks together giving me about 10-12" width digging blade. The 42" length will dig a pretty deep hole but still requires some shoveling to clear out.

The B7510 is a 21hp CUT. Yes, I can slide my portable forks together but the problem is that that would make too much of a lever and might put a smile in my bucket. What I was thinking of was something that was on the order of a regular spade shovel only a bit larger. However, no where as large as the ones I've seen offered commercially. It wouild be somewhere about 12" - 18" wide and about 24" long. I figured if you could use a regular spade in the ground by pushing it in with your foot that a tractor sure had enough force to push in a little large spade.

I imagine you could use a quick attach adapter and a bobcat style tree spade. It would be a bit oversized but you don't need to use it to gulp up a full "spade" with each bite. I'd guess that you'd have a bit more than half the lift capacity still available after switching out your standard bucket for the adapter and spade. You'd need to get a Kubota or other universal quick attach adapter so you'd probably end up spending $1200 or so total.

Ebay has them posted occasionally. Check this out: http://cgi.ebay.com/TREE-SHOVEL-SPADE-FOR-SKIDSTEER-LOADER-SKID-STEER_W0QQitemZ300006021605QQihZ020QQcategoryZ95494QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem

these companies might also be willing to build you a smaller version for about the same $ or you could buy a universal attachement adapter plate and have a local welding shop build you up a smaller version.

(PS. This is the first time with the new system that I have tried to paste a long link....isn't there a renaming option like in the old system?)

Looked at your tractor specs, and then looked at the Bobcat site again.

They have the Digger in 12", 12" "light duty", and 16". The light duty might be just what you're looking for.

I also have a shot back so I know how frustrated you get when you have to wait for buddies to come by and help with "normal" lifting.
Do you have a tooth bar on the loader? If so weld two old heavy shovel heads together to make a wider one and weld on a 2'' trailer tube under them and buy a cheap clamp on trailer hitch.Hook together and dig, maybe?
I know,I win the dumb idea of the week award for that.
