Recently purchased mint 1985 Ford 1710 w/770B FEL, 940 hrs. I'm going to go look at a 1988 Woods 7500 backhoe tommorow. Owner asking $3500, as thats what dealer is offering him on trade in. 3ph mount. I've read about the 3ph mount concerns. Other than obvious condition issues does this price sound reasonable? Is there anything specific to this backhoe that I should look for?

P.S. Thanks to all of you for your knowledge that greatly helped me in the quest for my 1st tractor.

If the tractor has 940 hours on it; the back hoe probably has very few hours on it. Was it mounted all the time? Stored indoors? What does it look like? If it sat outside, it will have rusted in a lot of spots. I have a 7500 hoe on a TC 29, 3 pt mount. It is a good hoe. I have about 1000 hours of use on the BH. Only have replaced 2 outrigger hoses and two cylinder hoses. I also changed about 3 pins as they were getting wear in them. I have an 8" ,12" and 16" buckets for it. I use the PTO aux. pump with mine. New it will cost over $6000 I guess.

Thanks dqdave1,
The backhoe is not from the same owner as the 1710. Per phone conversation the 7500 has always been kept in barn. Owner has a new JD 4300 that he's puchasing a new hoe for. He has replaced the control linkage and bucket teeth. 12" bucket.
I would like a new bucket shvl73, but money is always an issue. In the end I may hold out for the new hoe.
I'll see it tommorow morning.

That sounds like a pretty good price. I like the fact that your getting the subframe mount. I havn't had the opp to look into a new one, I think you just convinced me.
Thanks!

I already have the complete subframe for my tractor to use a Bradco 3375 and plan on mating my new three point hoe to that.

Are you sure it's a 7500? I don't think they were produced in 1988. When I bought my Ford 1920 back in 1988, the Woods 750 was going for $4500, if I remember correctly without a subframe. I bought my Woods 750 in Sept. '94 for $4900 with a subframe. I could be wrong, but I believe the 6500/7500 Groundbreaker 'hoes came out either later that year or the next year. Hope you find any of this helpful.

If the backhoe wore the bcket teeth off; I would think it has very high hours on it. If I could get a new one as stated above for $5700.00 I would get it instead. I hear the "x" model is great.
