I was told the 4100 with turf tires cannot accept chains. Is anyone running chains on their 4100 and if so what brand and type of chain??? The rear looks to be about 2 inches from the fender support at the closest point. The front tire is close to the steering tie rod end and other mechanism, maybe an inch of clearance. Help! Photos if relevent.

Jim, I've got duogrip chains over R4's on my 4100. For what its worth I've attached a pic too.

Tirechains lists the crosschain size for both styles as 3/8". I can tell ya that when they're mounted they are better than an inch high across the tire and slightly more than an 1 1/2" wide on the sidewall. The closest point looks to be by the floorboard.

I have not seen any on the fronts of a 4100 yet so I can't help ya there. To me it doesn't seem like there is enough clearance.

OK, so a few days and a hundred readers and no takers. Apparently all of you 4100 with Turf owners took your dealer seriously when he told you John Deere didn't make chains for the turfs. I found it incredible and looked elsewhere. TSC to the rescue again! I asked for a set of low-profile chains, because of the closeness of the fender and footrest. They called Peerless Chain Co. in Winona Minnesota, and obtained for me a set of truck tire chains. They use about 1/4" twisted links for the cross link sets (4-link spacing), and lay real nice on the tire. They were too long, but that is a simple problem. Cost me $75 for the rear set, plus sales tax. They are on and fit like a glove, and they work great! In case you need to know, they are "Superior" truck tire chains, # 0323510, fitting a whole list of truck tire sizes beginning with 35x12.5-15LT..., type DH, 4 link.

Not about chains on 4100, but... noticed the hydraulic quick disconnects on rear of your unit and thought they might be to a 3 pt back hoe. If so, could you describe unit, pricing and performance? Any info would be appreciated.

Not for a backhoe, just a rear aux feed for a single spool fender mounted valve. My main plans right now are to use it to power a hydraulic top link & the cylinder on a dump wagon.

The main feed and return along with the lower bracket are parts from Deere and upper bracket has been fabricated out of 4" wide channel stock and the two pieces welded together.

If your interested in the hydraulics part there is some more info in this thread too. <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=custom&Number=65437&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=0&fpart=>Hydraulic Options</A>
