Box Blade Gauge Wheels

First post so still trying to learn all the ends and outs

I've got a 5ft box blade behind my new Kubota 3130 and loving every minute on the new toy. However, I am having the gouging problem with the box that I have read so much about on this forum. My current project is trying to level an arena for horse riding (barrels, poles, etc).

I have read several threads about adding guage wheels to the box to keep it from digging in on the unlevel ground. Since I'm in a new place and don't have access to all my tools I'm trying to find something pre made. I ran across a trailer jack with a 500lb cap and a 10 in tire. Would a pair of these work for gauge wheels or am I asking too much?

Gauge wheels will make things much easier for grading and/or keeping the BB from digging to much. Otherwise there is a learning curve to it. I made a couple for mine with 10" tires rated for 300# each. The BB weighs 500# however aprox half that weight is on the 3pt. So the cheap tires/bearings will work for home use on mine anyway.

I've only used them once on the BB for S&G's, already had enough hours using the BB that I don't need them. They are however extremely handy on the landscape rake which is what they were built for. Adding receivers for the BB was actually an after thought.

I bought gage wheels for my landscape rake and adapted them to my rear blade. I find gage wheels on both the rake and real blade a blessing.

I never felt the need for gage wheels on my box blade. I have top and tilt and that seems to be enough for me when I use the box.

It may be that I use the box for the rough work and the other implements with the gage wheels for the finish work.

I doubt that I will add gage wheels to my box blade. Not to say that perhaps for others they don't have worth...just that I don't see much value in my case.
