Knee high and sometimes finger thick weeds.. yikes..

I'd be checking the deck and blades for sure.

As for the radiator:

I've mowed tall stuff when i had my NH 1920.. and yes.. i had to stop every 30 minutes while mowing chest high dog fennel and rag weed, just so i could clean the radiator pre-screen.

Follow up on loaning out the tractor:

All and all, it cost me:
$3 cash
4+ heavy use hours on the meter, and
about an hour of my time to hookup my trailer, load and unload the tractor, show him how to use it and pickup and install a replacement pin.

But he filled the tractor, my 6 gal diesel can and my truck with fuel (all were about 3/4 when he took them), so thats probably $20 I'm ahead on the deal.

I saved him about $250 to $400 it would have cost him to have somebody else mow his undeveloped small acreage lot. I think it was a favor worth doing from my point of view - makes me feel good to help a buddy out.

Don't know about your area, but around here most guys will do bush hogging for about $25 per hour (depending on how far away.... I will only do it within about 2 miles from home) If it took this guy 4 hours to do it, somebody who does it regularly with a bush hog could probably do it in 2 or 3 hrs. $50-$75, a far cry from $250-$400. I bought a used 4' bush hog a couple years ago for $200.
