And by cheap I mean dollar wise not quality. :)

I needed a tiller to start the seed beds for my lawn. Didn't need a high dollar heavy duty tiller and the deal I recieved on the Howse tiller was just to much to pass up. It's a Howse RTC 62" I was able to get it at wholesale price $950+Tax

What a good grade and weight of lube for the upper and side gear boxs?

Thanks

It seems like a nice unit at an exceptional price! My Howse implements (Rotary Cutter and Disc Harrow) have seemed to hold up OK. With that said, I hope you never have to order parts through them or deal with their customer service. Their customer service is TERRIBLE! I ordered manuals for my implements months ago and I'm still waiting on them.

How is the offset mechanism? Is it easy to offset and how much can you offset it by?

The offset system is very easy to adjust and only takes a couple minutes to loosen, adjust and retighten. You can also removed the gear box and turn it around for reverse operation of the tiller. The manual doesn't say what the max offset can be nor have I been able to find it online. Right now I have it offset by about 12 inches and it still has a few more inches left. Don't think I will have a parts problem. The dealer I bought it from is one of Howse's largest dealers here and he has a few replacement parts on hand.

Nice ! Pretty short money too...... especially for a tiller that wide !

As long as you don't have to deal with Howse directly, then you should be fine.

That's interesting about the gearbox. Wouldn't you need to reverse all of the tines as well? Are they special tines with edges on either side?

Yes, the tines would also need to be turned around. That should be fun LOL 8 sets of 4 blades Hmmm 32 blades. Don't think I'll be turning them around anyime soon.
