Hey ya'll,

Which brand and model rear discharge finish mower should I purchase?.....It will be going on my Mahindra tractor with right at 39 hp at the PTO, so I'll need a 6'.

I really like Bush Hog products, but don't know anything about their finish mowers. I have a 5' Bush Hog SQ600 Squealer rotary cutter and am well pleased with it.....Thats why I am considering a finish mower manufactured by them.

A buddy of mine has a Land Pride FDR1672 (?I think?)........He absolutely loves his....It has paid for itself Several times.

Are the Rhino finish mowers any good?........I heard that their rotary cutters are hard to beat.

I am also considering the Woods brand.........I hear they are extremely high on price though.............Several people around here has the Woods Brush Bull 60 rotary cutters...........One of the owners don't like his too much though.

Also, What about the Sitrex brand?......I hear they are good too.......That is a consideration also.

I need one that will last many, many years to come.........I will be cutting probably 5-7 acres about 20-30 times per year, of course, weather depending.

Keep in mind that I want a mower that can be greased without taking off any covers.....And the other main concern is that I want one that automatically tightens up the belt (idler pulley).........Also, I definitely want a good parts availability brand mower.

So, thats my choices......Bush Hog, Land Pride, Rhino, Woods, and Sitrex.

Now, the BIG question:..........WHAT ARE THE PRICES ON THESE BRANDS/MODELS?.......I don't want to go "overboard" with it, I just don't want to have to worry about down time either.

Thanks a lot,
Travis R

Hello I have a bush hog 84" rear discharge mower that I think is the cats ***. It has been a great mower so far. I use it to cut about 12 acres of my own and I also use it to cut several clints yards. This thing works great and can take a lot of punishment. I pull it with my Kubota M5700 and run it in High 1 or 2 over some fairly rough terrain and it still cuts with out any uneveness or missed grass blades.
I paid around 2700.00 for mine here in good old Arkansas.
Good Luck

You can't go wrong with the LandPride FDR1672 or FDR2572. I have only seen good things about them on this site. I recently posted to a couple of threads about mine. I have done some pretty serious rough cutting with mine (with old blades) and it never skipped a beat. Make sure you get the anti-scalp roller option.

I've got a Brush Hog RDTH 72. Holds up well and gives a smooth cut.

Travis,
A 7' finish mower may be a better fit for your machines HP and for mowing 7 acres (my opinion).
I have a 7' rear discharge First Choice rear finish mower. Only used it for 1 season , but I like it so far,it cuts nice, and it seems well built..
I priced a few 7' mowers last year
84" First Choice rear discharge was $1800
84" Befco rear discharge was $2500
84" rear discharge King Kutter was $1975
84" rear discharge Landpride was $2650
Just an idea of some of the prices I recieved 1 year ago.
Good luck..

Vince,

I am gonna get the 6' mower..........I have quite a few trees and obstacles......Not to mention the tight spaces to fit in between.

To everyone,

How much are the Land Pride and Bush Hog mowers costing at this point in time?

I had a RDTH60 Bush Hog that did a better cut job than the ZTR that replaced it. The spindels have plastic covers to access the grease fittings and the caster pivots required greasing before every mowing session or they would bind up due to the close tollerances.
