I enjoy reading all the posts about the new toys, err ahhh ahemmm - tools, that everyone buys for their tractors. Some I considered and have looked into. But, for what it is worth, I have a recommendation that will save everyone some time and aggravation:

When posting about a new/novel product - please post the price of the item. All too often going to the company web site provided in the post will only give information about the product - NO PRICES. Although the price may vary from place to place, whatever it is at one ZIP Code will not be grossly different than in another ZIP Code. Some of the manufacturer's web sites don't even tell you the names of dealers.

Any how, price postings will save some digging and searching. To say nothing of the telephone calls to your local dealer.

I agree with you Bill. As I look at those new tools and wish I had one at least I'll have an idea what it takes to get one. I'll try and follow this advise.

Should we post prices and maybe quality of used implements also? Or would that be a waste of time? I wouldn't think that it could hurt to give people an idea of what stuff is going for.

That would sure help us who are trying to figure out what to do for our first set of tools/toys.

The local Tractor Supply Store quoted me the following:

48" KingKutter tiller $1199
60" KingKutter tiller $1299
8 cu ft Cosmo concrete mixer $895
Post hole digger ?brand? $395 12"auger $135

Hows that for a start?

I know I have a tendency to sorta/kinda skim through threads that don't, afterall, isn't that one of the reasons to be a member or visit this site? I know the times I've had these type of questions, I've retained notes or the actual page(s) printed so as to have them the next go round. Just my $.02 worth.

well look at my whats it worth post.... for the same hog i got "bids" from "id pay $100 tops" to "easly worth $400"

thats a huge spred to me when your talking about price range that is well over 50% of the cost of a new one. (ie the range i got was $300, but new ones can be had for as little as $600)

both my attachments ive bought have been off of my local craiglist.

a (ford) Landpride RB3572 in good condition for $75
a ford brush hog in decent condition with slip clutch for $250

schmism,
You got some good deals going that way....no doubt, but used stuff varies on how good a deal you can get at that time. It does not necessarily mean everyone else can get that same deal. Heck, I've had stuff "given" to me that was in excellent shape but again, doesn't apply to everyone. "What's it worth" can be subjective to the individual as well.

I think posting new equipment pricing that applies to everyone is a good idea. Figuring out applicable taxes, shipping or local pick up will determine the total cost.

the uber good deals (free if you pick it up kinda) dont do much to help a baseline...

I let you know what i found so that people know the deals ARE out there.

FYI i looked for both the brush hog and back blade for months. infact i bought the back blade 3 weeks before i even had the tractor! (Because the deal came up)

am still looking for a box blade, PHD, tiller and whever else i can find... (front pallet forks, QD setup)

Im a firm beliver in buying a HD model used for the same price as i could find a new light "entry level" version of the same.... but it takes time and effort to search out the deals :D

I am buying farm implements on the net very rarely. But, I buy some other things on the net frequently. If it isn't online shopping web page, I don't trust the prices published on their pages of dealers. Whenever I see a price on a page (without online shopping) and when I call the seller to get a confirmation I usually hear from them that their prices on their pages aren't updated.

By the way, in old days (before internet), you were driving & walking to many dealers to get the prices and to compare them. This was a some days process. Now, you are sitting in your armchair and spending half a day on the net to get the prices from several dealers. Next year, you will want price comparison charts to be published by someones? I can do that. I can also publish price of my price comparison chart.
