Tractor
Kubota 5040 with FEL
hey everyone,

today I called the dealer to discuss going in for the first service and discussed that I am wanting to add two more sets of aux. hydraulics. I am wanting an additional one for the rear and would like one set on the front end loader to control my grapple. My dealer told me today that it isn't possible to install a set on the fel for the grapple. I know that there are people on here that have done it. Is there an aftermarket kit or am I just out of luck? My tractor is a kubota 5040 tractor and I would really like to install some hydraulics at on the fel so that I won't have to keep hooking up and messing with 20+ ' hoses to go to the rear of the tractor. Eventually they are going to get hung up or damaged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated because I am needing to either get a kit ordered this week or tell the dealer what i am needing so when I take it in next week for the service they will be able to have the parts in stock. thanks again!

You have 2 choices, either add a diverter off the bucket curl circuit or a "third function" electric/hydraulic valve like the one offered by WR Long in series with the loader valve. Either of these options will be activated with a push button on or near the loader joystick.

The easiest to install and the least expensive will be the diverter. However, with the third function valve you will not loose the simultaneous curl capability.

Search here for diverter, third function, or WR Long and you will get plenty of information.

Get the wr long kit its a great kit and easy to install. I just put one on my kubota.

You can also use your rear remotes to operate your grapple. I had a set of lines run from my rear remotes up to the front of my loader arms. I use quick connects to hook the grapple up to the extra lines.

With this setup I have to take my hand of the FEL joystick and use the lever for the rear remotes to open and close the grapple. Not as convenient as the valve/button setup that some have, but it was less expensive for me.

My TN already had the rear remotes so all I added was the additional plumbing

Like 1bush2hog I use my remotes with disconnects. I have a set at the loader attach point to make taking off the loader convenient plus a set at the loader front crossmember.

thanks for the info everyone. Today I called and talked to the owner of the dealership and apparently the fella that I talked to didn't know what he was talking about. He is going to order me a diverter and new joystick with a botton on it to control the grapple and it is going to include a set of quick connects on the front of the loader. i'm also going to get another set of of hydraulics on the rear so I should be good to go now. Thanks again.

To follow up on Vernon's point, one of the great things about certain Kubota loaders, like the LA853, is they are fast to remove and remount. When you add front hydraulics, make sure the wiring and/or plumbing has a quick disconnect where the loader arms connect to the loader frame. Otherwise, it will slow you down removing the loader. Sorry if you knew this.

BTW, my Kubota dealer called Kubota to see how to run hydraulics between the loader control and front of the loader. He said they told him you have to come off the rear aux. set. You don't.
