I have a pull behind spreader that has a setting for coarse or fine grass seed. Is a pasture mix with timothy and clover considered coarse or fine?

I'm not familiar with tim/clover seed sizes.. However.. compair them to bahia and centipede. Bahia is like sesime seeds on a burger bun.. those are coarse. Centipede is like grains of salt.. those are fine.

Thanks Soundguy, that now gives me a relationship I can judge by.

I ran 150 lbs of perennial ryegrass and some tall fescue through a hand held whirly bird over the last couple of weeks. Fescue seeds are large, ryegrass seeds are much finer, clover seeds are super small.

I would suggest seeding a measured area and checking lbs per acre that way.

The fescue seed doesn't feed as well due to the large seed size.

I ran Zoysia seed through a walk-behind spreader and found that the seeds were so small they began to run out with the setting at "0", for small seeds think about mixing with sand or some other larger granules, or putting an inch of sand in first with the seeds on top.
