Plan ahead!

Last week I got a good deal on a couple of Woods implements...used of course. When I bought my trailer, I was figuring on tractor, FEL & possibley BH so naturally, an 18 foot trailer would do just fine for my needs.

The Woods implements that I purchased...a 7 ft rake and a 6 ft brush-hog are great...until you do the math. The brush-hog, tractor, FEL are way longer than 18 ft....so I will have to remove the FEL in order to transport the tractor/brushog. It's not the end of the world, but I wish I'd have gotten the 20 ft trailer instead of the 18 ft. I guess what I'm saying is don't shoot yourself in the foot as I did...get the next bigger size trailer & avoid the problems.

I've seen where they put the fel on the trailer tongue while it's still attatched to the tractor. Is that possible with your trailer?

Weld a large plate on the triangle in the tongue and back the tractor on, set the Bush Hog gauge wheel on the plate. Watch the center of gravity. You need some tongue wieght.

I'm probably making a mountain out of a mole hill.....it's just that I was anticipating driving on & off with whatever attachment I had on the 3pt. The loader is a 300cx so it's only a few moments to take it off if I need to haul the mower. My big concern was needing the fel to help push me out of a bad spot if the need arose. What might happen is that I haul the mower & rake to the site & just leave them there for when I need them.

HZ: With the fel curled to the dump position and at the very front of the trailer, I've got a whole lot of tongue weight to start with. I'm afraid of crunching the tailgate against the bucket in a tight turn. if I put it on the a-frame. I've already had to have a new gate which was close to a grand. I might better have gone to a junk yard & kept the insurance money to buy more implements.

Make a bucket rest so it sits above your bed hight. Like the tire racks the Race car drivers do

Just let the wheel of the brush cutter sit over the back by a foot or so.
Works fine.
I have a 20' trailer and a MF1433 with a 5' cutter with FEL and it fits with 2 or 3 feet up front of space.
I'm not seeing why this doesn't work for you.

I neglected to mention that I've got the "I-Match" hanging off the rear of my 3520....and the length of the brush hog is near 8 foot to the end of the tail wheel. Now that being said, I've done preliminary measurements and it seems like a very tight fit on my 18 foot trailer. I do like the idea of the bucket support up high so that might be the answer for not having to take the FEL off during transport. I'm working on getting a set of bushings for the I-Match so I can get the hog connected & go from there. Thanks all for the great ideas.

The tail wheel and boom on my 6' cutter comes off with two bolts. You might just consider moving it for towing.
