Re: Loaders $1500 -includes installation-Pacific N

Loaders:
If memory serves me correctly I've seen some large brand name construction equipment with only one bucket cylinder. Three cylinders probably cheaper to replace or rebuild than four. Loaders are not complex items. Why spend money making them so. Lot easier and cheaper to replace hoze than it is pressure rated tubing as hoze is available in more places.
Had a neighbor build his own loader. He made it out of whatever metal that was available at a good price. It worked just fine.

Buck, thanks for the response. I will be reviewing my attachment desires with the Financial Coordinator (Mrs Nuru C7). I know I have the Mid Mount Mower authorized without any arguement, but the loader is going to take additional negotiations, and probably a trip to the Bahams!

Nuru,

You need to up the ante... promise the CFO a trip to Hawaii. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Gotta sweeten the deal to have extra toys. /w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yeah, Terry, it seems that way.

CJC2710,
First off, one 2 “ cylinder has the same volume as two 1 ½ cylinders.

Close but 1.77 to 1 is a little closer. I'm not sure I would call the man wrong. He didn't say whether the 2" was radius or diameter. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif 30,000 # is pretty close for a 2" radius.

Re: Loaders $1500 -includes installation-Pacific N

Twinkle Toes,

First off if you read EFC’s prior posts, he explains that they use 2’ bore chief cylinders for their loaders. That is a standard ASE size and YES IT IS 2” DIAMETER, NOT RADIUS.

So It is 7850 pounds of force at 2500 psi. not 30,000.

Do the math…………….

Thats a mighty big cylinder. Lets see thats 1,130,400 lbs Force. See I can do math. Times and takeway are easy it's guzinto thats hard./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif Did I get the 1.77:1 right or is that still 2:1.

TWINKLE_TOES

Must be keyboard gremlins, so I’ve included his statement. And guess what it’s still 7850 pounds………

"It had to be easy and affordable to get parts for. We did not design our loaders based on Cadplans idea we built it form our own plans and trial and error. We use 2" chief cylinders ($70 available at any local farm store) and Prince valves ($130)."

CJC2710

You sure don't have a monoply on the Gremlins. I agree no matter how you slice it 7850 pounds force. I think I was just trying to be kind and have a little fun at the same time. Hope I didn't get your heart going to fast, but he still didn't say radius or diameter. Just kidding again. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I checked your profile and I have a good percentage of your posts./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif Welcome to TBN, nice to have someone around who understands hydraulics and can do the math /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif The profile helps others give more intelligent responses to your posts. where and what kind of property and tractor/attachments even if you don't currently have any, is most helpfull. Again welcome to TBN.

Re: Loaders $1500 -includes installation-Pacific N

CJC2710, is right. I was in a hurry and was going off the wrong chart on my cylinder sheet (our biggest loader uses a 4" cylinder up front and has 31000 lbs of push). A 2" cylinder area is 3.14 and two 1 1/2 cylinders are 3.52. One 2" is faster than two 1 1/2's. It makes a bigger difference on the lower flow rates. 7850 lbs at 2500psi is correct 5375 lbs on the pull side. Is almost four tons enough on a tractor that weighs 1500lbs? I used hard stainless lines on the first loaders I built. It was cheaper and faster than hoses but these are working loaders and hoses are more resilient than hard lines and can take more abuse. I did it because people asked me to, not to save money.
I just don’t think the extra cylinder is necessary. It would cost me the same to put two cylinders up front. At my cost for cylinders and dropping the extra steel and two hours of labor the price would be the same. If I put four cylinders up front, would that be three times better? I use tie rod cylinders because that is what the farm stores typically carry and people can get part localy. Our loaders are quick disconnect and I can’t remember anybody named CJC2710 coming over and looking at our loader. Like I said before this loader isn’t for everybody and I build them to sell my own tractors I have very little interest in selling them by themselves nationwide. If somebody calls me a wants one I will try my hardest to make it happen but I am not pushing my loader.
