Looking for anyone with any brand compact tractor who owns or has any experience with front mount Erskine Snow Blowers. Am considering purchasing one for my 4300 John Deere to accomplish snow removal but would like to hear from owners and their recommendations.

I have an Erskine front mount snowblower on my JD4500 and I love the thing. It takes about 5 minutes of hookup time to get it installed on my tractor in the fall and it may take as much as 2 minutes to take it off in the spring. It operates off the rear PTO, a shaft runs under the tractor to the front to provide power to it . I have owned it since 1998 and have about $100.00 worth of repairs in it in that time period. It is very durable.

Good luck.

Thanks Roger2561 I now have the most important question for you.....if you don't mind my asking.......what did you pay for it???? I haven't yet inquired at my local JD Dealer as yet and I don't want to faint when I do!

Snowblowers are very expensive! Having owned two kubota (front) blowers, i can tell you up front is the way to go, looking behind you to blow snow is insane! My first unit 50" purchased in 2002 was $2800. my new unit 63" with hydraulic chute control was $4400. The units you are pricing will be in the same ball park.

I purchased the Erskine snowblower quite a few years ago - over 7 or 8 years ago anyway. What I paid for it escapes me, but simply guessing, somewhere in the ball park of $2800.00 to $3000.00 for the 60 inch I have. I hope this helps.

The Erskine units are very well built, heavy, and durable. But..
you will pay a lot for one. Current list price for a new FM60 inch
is $5,999.. we usually need to figure in some freight and setup.
The JD 59" front unit is less money, can usually sell that for under
$4,500, and is even easier to get on and off... and you won't lose
any clearance under the tractor.
What were your thoughts on going with Erskine over the JD blower?

DUTCH 445 I have been planning to replace the R-4 wheels and tires for R-1 type this coming spring to enable more efficient planting and cultivation in our one acre vegetable and perreniel garden. With the 12.4-24 R-1's in position 7, we can plant and cultivate two rows side by side under the tractor at the same time. I simply do not wish to change wheels and tires from this position which is wider than the 59inch John Deere blower unit.

Highlander, your snowblower does not have to be wider than the tractor wheels.

understood,,

for reference,, the 72" erskine lists at $6,999, and the 78" at $7,399...
I would think that the 78 is a little heavy for that tractor, i'v only sold
them on the 4710/4720 size tractors.
