Virnig Snowplow

I know the topic of snow removal has been discussed to death on this forum. I figure probably the two best ways for snow removal are either a front-mounted snow blower or a dedicated snow plow blade attached to the loader. I have looked at Meyer snowplows designed for tractor loaders on their website and they look very promising. But, does anyone have any experience or knowledge of Virnig snowplows? I found them on the internet.

I have heard a great deal about Meyer snowplows, especially for trucks. They seem to have a good reputation. But I have never heard of Virnig. I would love to have one of the two but I would have no clue what a setup like that would cost. I would bet a pretty penny though.

Those look like real heavy duty skid steer plows, the smallest one is 84" and weighs in at 1,190lbs.
What tractor do you have to put it on?

Good idea, but as a tractor owner who can only deal with about 600lbs in my loader, I can't find much to work with. Still, I get a sore neck from looking over my right shoulder all day long, working with a rear blade to move snow. If I had a removable front bucket, then maybe I could mount a front blade that would be big enough to do some good. Maybe it won't snow too much this winter?

You're right. The Virnig plows look like serious heavy duty deals. I bet they'll result in your wallet being not too heavy duty as well. I don't know. But comparable Meyer snow plows weigh about half what the Virnig does. The Meyer plow looks like a more reasonable set-up unless you're a professional.

I hear you about the sore neck,but after the first winter of useing rear blade to plow I got my crayons out than did some hot glueing on second hand plow from auction.

Pull pin and and bucket ready to use,and one can make some mighty high snow banks.

11 years w/this setup and only replace the mailbox twice.

Speaking of front mounted snow plows....anyone have any experience with the plow that Aiken trailer sells? I'm being lazy here and not searching for an existing thread....and please don't yell at me if everybody thinks I'm hijacking the thread.

I was looking at the Aiken 'Snow Champ' plow but it'll cost $1300 or so with shipping. Seems to be a whole lot more than the typical backblade....Aside from getting a stiff neck from looking backward while using the backblade, is there anything else that I sholud know that would compel me to use the front mounted blade? I live in SE PA with a 500' driveway. Usually get one or two 15" snowstorms a year and a whole lotta smaller ones.

I have a little MF 220.... 26 hp at the pto....and a 5' loader bucket

I considered Virnig Snowplow for my recent purchase, but that was a little more plow suitable for my needs. I went with the FFC 1482 1400 Series hydraulic angle snow plow/dozer blade. With an approximate weight of 500 pounds and dozer blade capabilities, it was just what I was looking for to snow plow my 1000 plus foot steep driveway. The blade allows the option to swap-out the trip spring setup and replaces with a long set of eye-bolts allowing light dirt plowing/grading.

Last year a TBN'er got a Diamond (Meyer) blade for his Kubota. It was priced less than my Curtis. I paid $1700 with shipping for my hydraulic angle 6 1/2' blade. Had to weld the brackets to fit my B2910 FEL.
I have had mine for 6 years now. It has been a great setup for clearing snow.
