Rhino 4134--40hp (98)
I have an opportunity to buy a Ditch Witch A420. My hope is that I'll be able to mount it on my Rhino 4134 (made by Benye). The Rhino is 40hp.

Anyone with knowledge or experience on this unit and how difficult it is to create a subframe and attach a Ditch Witch Backhoe to a different brand.

Thanks

Piece of cake...
Actually I have no idea, but thought you ought to take a tape measure with you and go make sure the parts will fit if you decide to give it a try. Nothing like putting a square peg in a round hole, and the round hole is too small.

The other side of the hoe would be nice to see!

Typically, if you have the ability to accurately cut metal and the skills/equipment to properly weld it back together it should be a piece of cake. The clamps are usually quite thick on the order of 2", so be sure your tools are up to the task.

Thanks for the help: Here is another picture of the unit, which doesn't help much and a drawing from DitchWhich showing the four mounting pin receivers on the unit. I presume that I'll need to make a mounting plate with pins attached to a subframe, and not use the 3point hitch.

The weight of the backhoe is 1500 lbs not including bucket. The unit is pretty beefy and I'm concerned that it might be too big for my 40hp tractor. Is it possible that my hydraulic pump isn't big enough to effectively use the BH.

I'll second the comment about the tape measure. First thing I noticed is that the boom pivot is quite a bit lower than the Swing pivots. If you look at a Ditch Witch, the whole thing does sit up pretty high so this will have to be mounted high on your tractor. Also, the stabilizers are longer to compensate for the height. That shouldn't be a big deal. The only issue you might have with hydraulics could be slower operation. Ditch Witches, and Bobcats have pretty high hydraulic flow compared to most CUTs. Not higher pressure, just higher flow. Pressure equals force, and flow equals speed.

Good luck, and post pics if you proceed with your project.

Rod, I am NOT familiar with the DW hoe, but the schematic looks like it is for the stabilizers and not the 4 pt mount.

A good picture of the back of the unit would still be nice.

If the hoe is more than 2/3 of the tractor dry weight then it is too big. 1/2 is usually pushing it, but manageable.
