hey everyone,

I finally gave up fighting it and ordered a HD woods 8' landscape rake with dual gauge wheels and hydraulic cylinder. I've read how useful they were and just couldn't hold out anymore. I should have it in a few weeks. looking forward to using it around the farm. any setup advice or advice for projects when using it?

Lee, don't forget to post some photos!

I find the landscape rake is replacing the box blade for many tasks. It is an amazingly versitile tool that can be very gentle on the ground or can be very aggressive, depending on the toplink and 3pt adjustments. I found that when using a hydraulic toplink I can feather the adjustments so that you can go across your lawn to pick up stray sticks without tearing up the grass, or you can use it more aggressively to take the ruts and bumps out of ATV trials without destroying the hard pack deep under the trails.

But it is pretty worthless for pushing snow :p

Bob,

I definitely don't have to worry with snow. Down here we are lucky to get 2" once to maybe twice a year. I have heard how much everyone loves their landscape rake so I decided it was time to go for it but I wanted to buy a tougher model because I do work my equipment fairly hard. I figured I would probably be better off getting the heaviest duty one that I could up front.

Good choice, the wheel kit works great, i have it on my landpride rake. I only own 1 woods implement, but i will buy more as thei'r equipment is built to last!

What do they mean by dual guage wheels. Is that 2 wheels or 4.

2 wheels that can be set in multiple positions to set constant grade on the rake itself. In other words, you float the 3 point & the wheels hold the rake at your grade setting.

I know what guage wheels are , I have them on my rake and BB. I have never seen a single guage wheel, so when it said dual guage wheels I thought it might have them front and rear which might not be a bad idea.

Back in the 60's some rear blades had a single guage wheel available. It was on a kind of frame extension which allowed the blade to function like a grader by affording it with a "longer" wheelbase.

woods has an option of either a single or dual guage wheels on this particular landscape rake. I opted to go on ahead and get the duals.
