Has anyone made an offset to make the brush hog mow 1' or so outside the wheel path. I want to mow the edge of the ditch's along the road without getting the tractor too close to the edge.
By moving the check chains all the way to the right the Brush hog will hit the tires.

I thought about pivoting the whole mower- Any thoughts?????

Well,I'm sure that you could alter the three point on the hog to make it offset a foot, but the pto drive line would be your next problem, those u joints will only move to a certain degree, than they make a heck of a racket, but you could probably come up with something there as well.
Wonder what alls needed to hook up one of those side mounted mowers like the state road uses,?,probably a whole lot,,,,read somewhere that a guy made a midmount pto for his chinese tractor, using the rear pto ,someway or the other.
There is a sickle mower,[like they use to cut hay with,[not much anymores],it mounts to rear and offsets to the side,,,but you can break it if you hit something solid,,than you see in northerns cataloge, those swisher pull behind mowers, they offset I think,,thingy

BushHog makes an 84" offset light duty cutter that will extend past the tire on the one side. It has two blades so the PTO shaft remains in line to one blade then a secondary shaft runs to the other blade which is offset.

I think he is talking about an SQ84T, link attached. It has two blades so it gets it width without much overhang in back. One side cuts to cover the rear wheel and the other side overcuts the wheel. I've been considering one for years and got a quote several years ago for $2400. Bush Hog ® Agricultural Products Its in the multispindle, light duty category.

Mornin Mike,
I have an old 42 Farmall A with a rearmount sickle mower that is ideal for that job. Also since the PTO shaft is offset on these tractors if you have a pull behind rotary mower you get about a 1 ft offset also !

I think one of the other posters mentioned that Swisher has an offset mower, that may be a possibility also. I would imagine it has to do with how much roadside mowing you need to do !

I have used many a tool behind a Super A. The ofset you are talking about should not bother the PTO at all. If pulling the chains over makes the brush hog hit, is it those tire gaurds that hit? If you don't know what I'm saying, then you don't have them. Go to a tractor supply and see if you can find longer lower3pt arms. That should allow you to pull the hog over without hitting the tires. You need a towable mower and a drawbar.

Rhino makes an offset adapter for some models. Here is parts manual for SE5. Check out page 36
