I could use some ideas on how to hook up some rear work lights on my JD 955. Plowing snow after work or early morning with a rear blade is just too dark to see what I am doing. All suggestions are welcome.

For temp use.. use a magnetic mount one with a spiral springy cord. for permanent mount.. try the fender.. All my tractors have a fender mounted lamp save the IH an jd.. ( no fender! )

My JD 4600 had rear work lights available in a kit form. They install on my ROPS and I purchased two - the light really makes a big difference. Have you checked with your dealer to see if there are kits pre-made for your JD?

Years ago I worked up my own lights that attached with U Bolts to the top of the ROPS.

Within a year I took it down.

I work in the woods and near trees so that the lights got banged around. And they would get caught up as well. It took a fair amount of work to come up with my own installation as well.

If you are near trees consider where the lights will be located. I would also seriously consider using lights made for your tractor by the manufactuer. Most likely that will save you some time. Given what I spent for my own installation I'm sure I could have just bought the JD lights. I would have saved time and maybe even money.

Unless I was buying some of the new HID lights they have that are hundreds of dollars! :D

While they worked, the lights really did help but I stopped working at night since I was alone and it was not worth the risk. I used the lights to cleanup a road so it was safer.

Later,
Dan
