Yep - many here have. Suggest a search for "fel boom pole" Some built are dedicated FEL boom poles , and some attach to a bucket.. Maybe more builders will chime in.

Hello Dullpain,,,,
I want to build a boom just like yours. My question is ,,, did you use 4''x2'' tubing for the boom ?? And if so,,, what thickness ?? I really appreciate your input !! Thanks for your time ..

I was wondering if anyone ever made a one man lift cage to go on the end of one of these booms? I would think it would be fairly safe especially if you put the cage on a pivot yoke system with a brake mechanism. If anyone has come up with a system like that I sure would like to see it.

I cannot see how it could be safe to be dangling off a pole high above a tractor. It could tip forwards or sideways with rather bad consequences. Tractors have no lateral support like most lifts do and you'd need to be real careful about lifting anything while in the cage for fear of tipping forwards. Of course there is also the possibility of hydraulic failure in the FEL.

I can see lifting trusses or other objects while safely in the operator station but it sure doesn't seem like a good idea to lift a person up.

Yes, something like that with a bucket on a high mounted gimbaled system attached. Kind of like one of these:

Of course it wouldn't articulate or move from side to side. I figure as long as I have my backhoe attached and the stabilizer legs down it should work for pruning trees and working on the roof. It seems like a pretty simple idea, just wondering if anyone else has ever done it?

Post is a little old and the OP never did come back, but, yes it can be done. I built a bucket mounted jin pole for my bx23 and set 10 ft walls and 26 ft trusses with it , no problems. Most of the work I did by myself using ropes to control the load.
