Anybody out there have their mower decks or tillers? The tillers are not listed on line, but a local dealer in Iowa has them also.

I have a cutter. I bought it last November. It seems to be a well built middle of the road type cutter. All galvanized with one solid piece of steel on top. I passed on the box and bought the heavier Kioti brand (Midwestern?). I can't really comment on the durability of the cutter but it seems like a nice piece for the money.

I purchased two 6 foot Modern rear finish mowers for the purpose of maintaining a private grass airstrip and surrounding grounds, approximately 30 acres+. The cut capability is good however I have experienced some maintenance issues.
The Bearings in the wheel assemblies when greased daily have a life expectancy of approximately 50 hours, an attempt to upgrade the bearings did not help much. I finally fabricated oil light brass bushings to replace the bearings and have accumulated in excess of 200 hours without problem. The bearings used for the belt pulleys have required replacement on the average of each 100 hours of use. After approximately 400 hours of operation one of the unit’s main gearbox failed and has since been replaced.
Hurricane Rita strongly impacted the availability of obtaining spares from the Manufacture. Hopefully this has been corrected by now as mowing season is again upon us.
In retrospect for the initial purchase price these have been very good mowers however with the number of hours being used I should have opted for a more substantial unit.

Masphi,

I just picked up the tiller yesterday. Looks good but time will tell. I'll most likely only put 20 hours a year on it, so it should last me. Plus I won't be tilling virgin ground with it either, just putting alley ways in research lots.
