Attachement to make road drainage ditch?

Just looking to see what other people have done to make an attachment (or purchase if I am missing the point on this) that extends beyond the tire line to create a drainage ditch off of your road. I am thinking around 1ft deep at the most. Maybe a single plow (furrow) blade welded to the end of some sort of tubing attached to the 3pt hitch is my idea. But this is the land of creative users, so i am inquiring on what other people have done. Because my road is cut into a hillside, and the box blade does not extend much beyond the tire line, I am having to look to extend.

I haven't done it but i read a single potato plow welded with strong steel works for this then scooped running your fel bucket down it.......I am going to have to do it also, so I am paying attention to others advice too.

A rear blade with off set capability is the implement that is often used to do just what you are asking about. Rear blades are common to off set 24-30".

Right now I use my boxblade by tilting it severely as needed.





But I have a project in mind to make a 3pt implement which I call a "Gutter Cutter". It will be a rotating wheel that sticks out to one side of the tractor with blades on it, driven by the PTO. It will rotate slowly and cut a groove (I hope) much like a trencher. I've been wanting to make this thing for almost a year now.

Must be nice to have 2 side link cylinders. I want to see that gutter cutter. How about getting an old rototiller and giving it a major offset and attach your cutting device to the offset end. My 2 cents.

Well, I had to change out the 2 turnbuckles and put the cylinders on myself but it is sure worth it. They are huge too.
The rototiller concept is exactly the idea I had in mind, except making one from scratch and only using an 8" wide cutter on it. But now that you mention it, I might consider a modified combo tool so the attachment will be more useful. Thanks for the idea. I'll post a new thread when I get to building it.

In any case, I've cut all my gutters so far with the boxblade tilted like that. My main dirt roads are about 3500 feet long with gutters on both sides. So I know it works good too.
