I was wondering if anyone uses them and if they work? I have a 6' tandem disc set and using it my sandy soil can make some pretty deep furrows. My disc set is a 20x18" set and wondered if I put a smaller 16" disc on the end of each row if that would work or am I missing something on how furrow fillers work?

I think FWJ has a set on his disc set in an earlier post.

Yep! Sure do,and they're "home-made" too. My disc has 18" blades. The outer rear blades were old blades that were replaced. I took a torch and trimmed them down to 13", then ground the edges back to shape. They still leave a small furrow, but only an inch or two. With full sized 18" disc blades on the outside, it would leave a 4" or 5" furrow.

Some brands offer these as original equipment.

Thanks FWJ!

I thought thats what you had done with your disc set.

Looks like a good plan to me!

You can also drag a harrow section behind your disc or build a harrow tooth bar behind you disc to do the same thing and it works real well.
