I am going to attatch two 6ft chains to my loader bucket. I plan on drilling two holes in the bucket and bolting the chains on through a link. How does everyone here attach chains to your buckets?

weld hooks on top of the bucket. Much easier and probably better for the bucket as well.

Hooks here also, not sure why you'd want to bolt chains to your bucket:confused:

I've added hooks on two tractors (see the pic). The 790 is shown.
The center hook is best used for fairly light work (otherwise the upper flange of the bucket will be damaged unless you put a doubler plate under it.
The outer hooks are used for heavier or awkward loads.

I've also used the holes I'd drilled for my tooth bar for straps (eye bolt through the holes) to stabilize a load.

I also added two chain hooks on my orange bucket. I don't use them to pull or lift with, just use to secure loads that I move around, ie barrels, etc.

This is my setup. It may be overkill but I'm yet to run into a situation I couldn't handle

This is how I do it. I reinforced the top flange of the bucket with steel angle before welding on the hooks.

I also have 3 chain hooks welded on the bucket. The bucket is a heavy duty model that has a reinforced top support tube, so welding to that provided plenty of muscle for lifting. I use the chain wrapped around the chain hooks on each side to evenly distribute the weight across the loader bucket, unless I am lifting something weighing only 2-300 lbs. Then I may only use the center hook.
Just make sure you have plenty of reinforcement on the bucket edge so that you do not bend it, then make sure you have a competent welder put them on for you!

Here's my bucket pic's, don't have a welder so everything is bolted. I used some hooks and chain slots and had a shop do the welding, bit I think if you drilled&bolted your link directly, then it might rip-out and damage your bucket. At least you might want to put some steel on bolts sides of the bucket if you're staying with the link-idea
