I need a little help in determining what is a good deal on a used tiller. It seems that used rototillers in good shape are very few and far between.

I finally found one near where I live and I'm trying to determine the make and model and whether or not it will be a good deal.

Andy feedback is appreciated...what do you feel would be a fair price...what to look for when buying a used implement like this etc.

Thanks!!!

It looks like a grey market tiller from Japan used originally in rice paddies. The tines are few and curved differently than a tiller used in regular field soils.

Around here, they go for 250 bucks to 400 bucks. That one looks well used. Remember that you will have a bear of a time getting parts should the need arise.

That tiller is beat to ****** (i'll save the system the effort to put in the ***'s)
I wouldn't touch that with a 10' pole
I wouldn't buy it with your money.
Plus, the tines are weird, it's not built for our clay soils
yes, i realize tillers are expensive, but if you stretch out the cost over 10 to 20 years it's not that much and they are amazing. i've seen new ones as low as 1200 bucks
that's $60 a year.
costs more than that to rent a walk behind one once a year.

Megga ditto on that. I just bought a 5 footer KK-II for $1198 from TSC in my area. I'm excited to pick it up and give it a go on my newly plowed garden site.

Thanks for the replies....you all have pretty much confirmed my suspicions....

I might just have to bite the bullet and buy a new one....I've been looking for a used one for about 6 months now and unfortunately this is actually the best one I've come across around here that wasn't asking for like new prices...

Thanks again....

It's a Yanmar tiller used in the rice fields. If it's 48" wide, then it's an RS-1200 model.

Looks like an old Yanmar tiller. Pretty beat up as others have said. You didn't mention what the price was for it.

Here are a couple pics of my used Yanmar tiller. Paid $600

Works great in my soil. Tiller is extreamly quiet and does a great job.
