No its a self contained Vermeer and I hate it. Well I should say I hate running it=boring. It runs great burns about a gallon of gas an hour.

I've been looking at a couple of Vermeer chippers used small ones one is a 20hp the other is a 25hp. The price is right of the one but looks like its got alot more hours than the hour meter says. I'm not a trusting person when it comes to things like that. But it runs like a champ so it may be correct.

Drill a hole in the stump, fill it full of Ammonium Sulphate, diesel, a little powder and presto, no more stump. You then use your loader to fill in the crater. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif At least it worked for boulders in Southern California.

It would be my misfortune to have another Oklahoma City incident the day after I bought all the stuff...

If you guys ever see me being carted off to jail on the national news, put in a good word for me, ok? Call up the FBI and say "But he only bought the diesel and ammonium sulphate to blow up stumps! Honest!"

If you find one, let me know. I'd sort of fancy the idea of carrying horseshoes in a grenade box. At least nobody would mistake me for a ringer that way.

Mark, I just happened upon a supplier with some fiberglass amo boxes. Try www.sportsmansguide.com; check out page 27 in the gov. surplus catalogue. Hope you can find them.
I'm looking for those enhanced pics of that enhanced L4310!

JimM - Thanks! They must've just gotten some more of them in, because I called them before I posted the first message. That's where I got the first batch of them.

Thanks again for letting me know. This group never ceases to amaze me. Somebody, somewhere can find just about anything you're looking for or tell you just about anything you want to know.

I finished up a similar project about three weeks ago. AA Rentals here gives you the Vermeer Hyrdasweep for one day, 8 hours on the meter. Makes for a long day in the hot sun.

Anyway, I had about 32 stumps, and three of them were from enormous, multi-trunk big leaf maples. The first stump took 7 hours and produced about four yards of chips! It turns out that the stumps take exponentially longer to grind as they get a little larger, because I finished all 32 stumps in 16 hours. When the arborist quoted me $1500 to grind these stumps my eyes bugged out, so I guess I'm a little wiser and humbler now.
