Has anyone built a self-contained 12v hydraulic set up for the Country Mfg 2T dump trailer? I plan on purchasing the trailer in the next few weeks and my tow vehicles don't have remote hydraulics. I can't tell from the photos how much room there is between the bed and frame to place a pump/reservior and battery.

I have an old pump/reservior left over from another project. Just need to add a control valve. But I'd be interested in any equipment list (pump make model, control valve description) you might have.

Also where and how you managed to store everything on the trailer.
Thanks,

I don't have a dump trailer but I did convert my manually jacked hydraulic tilt bed trailer to the 12V elect. hyd. I bought the unit from Graingers but have a business account there. The elect. hyd. units are available from Northern Tool as well. Mine is a power up and gravity down unit but they sell power up / power down units as well. I swapped out the manual jack type cyl, mounted the unit inside a tractor supply alum. box on the front of the trailer with my winch and separate battery, and ran the hose through the box to the cyl. (see pics) The battery is charged when the trailer is plugged into the truck via a 10Ga. wire with a 30A auto reset circuit breaker in the fuse box under the hood.
Power unit is a Barnes / Haldex is Grainger #4NE14. similar to the #1071-2705 at Northern. I got the 2 1/2 gal reserve tank as well Grainger#4NE25. The cylinder, hoses, and pressure gauge I bought through Northern Tool. If you need a power up / power down unit the part# will be different.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

George

I just purchased the hydraulics from a used wheelchair lift with the idea of using it on a dump trailer. I am looking for ideas as well. Steve

This is great! Impressive job. Thanks for the parts list. I'll try to document my efforts.

Even though I have sufficient outputs on my tractor I found it a pain to connect and disconnect the hydraulics for my dump trailer. Besides, if I wanted to tow the trailer with my ATV I had no way to raise/lower the bed.

I started my search through the interenet and low and beold a thread was started on TBN. I found a unit on E-bay for $425.00 with controller which could work, unfortunatley it was a bit more than I was hoping to spend. I'll report if I find a better option.
