Does anybody have or, know of a good source for tines?
Has anyone replaced any on their rake? cost? I would like to build a rake of my own and the tines are the only thing that I can't fabricate. I need to know the cost of the tines to see if it would be feasible to build one or, not.

Thanks in advance,

winchman:

Shortly after I bought my Linebach landscape rake I caught one of the tines on a small stump or something and broke it. I went to the dealer I got the rake from and bought a replacement. I don't remember exactly what it cost but I do remember it wasn't cheap (somewhere around $10 maybe) - and that it would certainly cost a bunch to replace them all...

I have also seen rake tines at Farm & Country (now closed).

Try http://www.agri-supply.com/catmain/1900042.htm Found them under farm machinery parts, landscape rakes. We have one in Petersburg, VA. Its great. Quite a bit different from the defunct CT and Tractor Supply as they carry a lot of plow and implement parts, trailer axles and hitches, implements plus a lot of just about everything farm related.

Halsey,

I think it is www.ag-supply.com. They have them for $2.99 each. Thanks for the tip. This means that I can build one pretty cheap. Thanks Guys!

I had the same idea until I got a few prices on replacement tines. $ ??xx times 36 for a 6 foot rake starts getting expensive.
Most tines I checked on were 5/16 "X 1" cross section so I figured that would be a common size. Then I looked for an old rake for low money just for the tines. I found one in Want Ad book.
9 foot rake real bad shape $50.00 , some tines were bad but there were enough to make a 6 foot rake and have 6 spare tines. The rest of this rake was only good if used for an anchor.
Good luck.

Well you get what you pay for I know that york makes a good rake and if you bellie up to the bar it would be the last rake you would buy. York also makes a cheeper rake they call Modern rake but it hase the good teeth on it and you better do a lot of rakeing if you want to wear out a set of these babies
