Box Blade/Draft Control

Again, not at all irrellevant, merely beyond your ability to grasp an old, established concept.

You can drag a pallet behind the back bumper of the wifes car and "level a driveway". Hardly a true test of anyones ability to "grade". I'm talking about grading to a precise grade, NOT floating up and down randomly with no exact grade as a final goal.
Look, you've very obviously had less than satisfactory experience with TPH draft control. I on the other have described excellent results on two tractors. What's wrong with just leaving it at that ?

No where did I ever say I had "less than satisfactory experience with TPH draft control". It's the greatest thing eve invented for making farm tractors efficient in tillage work. I said, and stand behind it 100% , The best, most accurate results while grading with a 3 point hitch mounted box blade is to use a heavy box that will stay down without down pressure, and a tractor with enough weight and power to handle it with position control rather than draft control.

Obviously we disagree.

I did 2500 ft of very neglected steep rutted washed out driveway yesterday. I used position control to set the teeth depth, the draft to let it raise up in the really hard parts. Once set, I pretty much ran all day only using position at the ends when I turned around. Pulled up rocks as big as my front tires but now its ready of 200 tons of road millings.

breadtrk,
Did you take pictures?

I would guess that after the initial runs were made with some occasional hard pulls that may utilize the draft control that you could finish up grading without the draft control taking effect.

If you had to dig down deep I would recommend packing this down before adding materials on top.

No pictures, this is for a music industry person who very much values his privacy, I respected that. I need to finish cutting some ditches and one swale before we bring in the compactor. this drive goes from the main road to his barn so that no one has to drive up the house. We are supposed to get a bit of rain tonight and tomorrow so I'll be able to see how the water flows before I start cutting and restoring existing ditches.

30 years ago I used to wash dishes at a honky tonk with this guy and he would go up on stage during the band breaks. We met at the same place to talk about this drive and a couple other projects he wants me to take care of.... You know it, he heads to the stage as soon as the band took a break. It's nice when someone don't ask "how much", he said make it right. I tried to talk him into asphalt, but he wants the millings because it looks right.
