Through ebay I found a site that sells new rototillers. They are called Weixi IGQN heavy duty tillers. They appear to be manufactured in China. The pictures look like the quality is pretty decent. The price I was quoted is absolutely excellent. Has anybody here ever heard of these or have any experience with them?

Chuck, a lot of them work good when new. I like the ones that you can still get parts for when they are twenty plus years old with out problems. Low price, might mean just lower quality to begin with other then the fact of lower cost to build.

They look very similar to some of the tillers the grey-market dealers sell. Maybe a copy of a well known Japanese brand? Looking closely at the photos, the paint and castings seem somewhat crude. I would think you've got a lot of hp at your disposal and wonder if a cheap tiller would hold up, maybe with a slip-clutch?

First time I've seen a tiller distributor show the gears so you can see what you're getting.

The tines look a lot like the ones on my Yanmar RS-1200 tiller (48" wide, grey market, $300).

They show it connected to the tractor without a slip clutch on the pto shaft. Hope there're shear bolts somewhere on this tiller. I had to add a slip clutch to my setup because that Yanmar tiller doesn't have shear bolts.

So far I've used the RS-1200 to prepare the veg garden and the lawn seed beds around my new house. No problems, even in very rocky patches in the back yard area.

A close look at these tells me they are "refurbished" grey market tillers. About halfway down on the right hand side on the page that you linked to is a picture of the specification plate. I wouldn't know Japanese from Chinese, but the stray paint on the plate tells me that these have been re-painted.

If I were you I'd do some reading here on TBN about all of the pros and cons about grey market tractors, refurbished or otherwise; and apply that advice in your decision about buying one of these tillers.

Disclaimer: I have a grey market tractor and tiller, and I love them.

i thought this tine style was indictive of grey market tillers and to find replacement tines was near impossible.

PTO Shaft police here!! :D :D I love the lower pictures on the web site. No PTO shield.

Flusher you might want to find something to cover your slip clutch. It is kind of out there.;)

As far as the grey market tines go, I just installed a new set on a tiller I sold 5 years ago. They are easy to get. I have had one experience with a cheap set that I got off Ebay. They were Chinese knock offs. Several broke off the first time they were used. Be very careful of Chinese " knock offs ".

Chuck, I know how much you want a tiller, but I think that on this one you better be a gambler, because there's a good chance that you would be throwing your $$$$ away. But you never really know until it's a done deal.

Good luck with your decision.:)
