I have been thinking about buying a 60" finish mower and have one question about using one, here we go, do you use the wheel down on the ground when mowing or do you keep the mower suspended and use the wheels for anti scalping ? or just run the thing with all 4 wheels on the ground flat and level ?
thanks david

You should drop your 3pt all of the way down so the mower is supported by its own wheels. You adjust the cutting height at the mower wheels.

FWIW: I started using a rear discharge finish mower this year. Probably cut 6-7 times now. Very pleased. I am able to get closer to yard obstacles than I anticipated. I think having HST helps in this regard.

It runs on its wheels. My deck is so heavy that if I pick it up without front ballast my fronts will bounce. The only adjustments you make is when you do pick it up the deck should be level. Once that is done she'll run nice and flat and give you a very good cut.

If you are thinking about one make sure you get an anti scalp wheel and a chain guard for the discharge.

Kevin
